OBJECTIVES

Euterpe wishes to ensure the promotion of chamber music while supporting promising young musicians and composers in the Kortrijk region of Belgium. To reach this goal and maintain Euterpe’s profile, we pay great attention to establishing seasonal programmes.

1. Quality chamber music
By this we mean well-known works as well as less known or completely unknown works from similarly well-known, less known, unrecognized or unknown composers especially from the the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries. We are open to all styles and genres, yet we nonetheless focus on modern and today’s artistic production.

2. A stage for Flemish composers
Euterpe pays particular attention to contemporary works of chamber music. Once again, we are open to various musical aesthetics. This way, Euterpe offers music lovers a representative sample of what contemporary composers have produced and are still producing. What’s more, Euterpe regularly programmes creations from Flemish composers, confronting them with contemporary composers from all over the world.

3. A stage for young musicians
Remaining faithful to our high standards, we also want promising young musicians to be able to perform in public under the best possible conditions.

4. Good venues
The concerts of Euterpe preferably take place in venues with optimal acoustics. Occasionally, Euterpe also invites its audience to discover the architectural heritage of Kortrijk and its region, on the condition it enhances the musical experience.

5. Musical programming
Euterpe aims to keep a certain thematic unity to its seasonal programming.

The board of Euterpe takes care that the programming is in line with Euterpe’s objectives and selection criteria.

The members of board are:

• Christian Vereecke, president and treasurer
• Rita Hocke-Boedts, vice-president
• Vic Nachtergaele, secretary
• Piet Dheedene
• Bart Flamée
• Kristof Boucquet
